Issues In The Tissues

Emotion: instinctive or intuitive feeling as distinguished from reasoning or knowledge.

Happy, sad, angry, gleeful, thankful, anxious, unappreciated, loved, unworthy, kept…

Feelings are a major part of life. Unfortunately, most of the time, in most of us, feelings drive our actions. Especially when those feelings run deep down into our souls. They hit at the very core of who we are. Or at least who we think we are, what we should do, and who we think we should be.

Tonight my heart is broken. I feel sadness on this, the day that is supposed to be full of love and happy hearts…

As tears have crept from my eyes, spilling onto my cheeks for hours, I find my heart is still so full of hope. Because though I feel incredible pain, I have a choice.

Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

God didn’t say feel… He said BE.

You can feel afraid, yet take the step in the right direction. You can feel discouraged, yet be thankful. You can feel sad or hurt or even broken, yet smile and have hope in the promise that all things work together for the good of those that love God and are called according to His purpose and will.

It is what happens when I don’t feel strong or courageous that matters. It is what happens when I feel afraid and discouraged. Life has caused these feelings in me. And my feelings are real…

But God…

I encourage you, despite what you feel, to BE more than what you feel. Be appreciative that you get to be here. At least you are here. Be proud that you made it here, even if here is not where you wanted to be. Be grateful that the day is now done and tomorrow holds mercies that are new every morning.

Feelings come and feelings go… Yet, choices are just as abundant as feelings.

And the choice is yours.

You can choose to be joyful. To live out of a place of gratitude for what you do have, in spite of what you do not. To strive for the abundant life.

Because you are worth it. You are enough. You are not alone. And you are deeply, deeply loved.

And there are no feelings you will ever have that will change that truth.

Goodnight my fellow bloggers and faithful followers. I am always praying for you.
