When Things Go Right

While at a conference last fall, I was introduced to the ‘Buts of the Bible’. Hilariously, the speaker pointed out multiple stories in scripture where things just weren’t going well for the Bible characters until you come to two simple words, ‘But God’.

We’ve all had those times where we just want to run away and start a new life. Just move somewhere else far, far away from our troubles and our realities. Life can wear you out sometimes. Obstacles abound to where even the silver linings seem so small and thin, when the negative hits harder than the positive.

Admittedly, I’ve had one of those weeks. I won’t bore you with the details. Let’s just say, it wasn’t a good week.

But God…

When love runs scarce and emotions run wild… But God is waiting with open arms, a kiss on the cheek, a warm embrace and a celebration to boot.

When funds are low and the damages are high… But God grants freely and supplies all of our needs according to His riches in glory.

When hope seems lost and faith seems void… But God freely gives us the grace we do not deserve, the mercy of not getting what we do, and the unconditional love of a wonderful Abba.

But GOD. He is faithful. Even when I don’t see it, feel it or hear it. But God… He’s never failed me. And at the low point of this last week, He picked me up and called me His.

When things go wrong, He makes things right. I do love when things go right.
