To Begin Again

It’s takes a lot of effort and dedication to build something grand…

We make plans and break ground, always hoping that the structure we are building will be safe, secure…solid. Something that will stand the test of time and the storms of life.

Maintenance is always required for something great to remain great. Lights will go out and will need to be replaced. Cracks may surface and will need to be patched. Sewage may even back up at times and will need to be flushed.

But what happens when you neglect to take care of that strong structure? It gets dark, cracks become crevices, and the stench can become overwhelming.

Love is sometimes like this… We invest so much into a dream of building a perfect love, only to find that those we have built it for have neglected to care for it. And sadly, it falls apart. But it’s the fallen dream of the architect that can cause the most distress, the one who put so much time, love and heart into this beautiful plan for this beautiful structure that now stands, and falls, overlooked and under valued.

Living this reality has caused a lot of heartache for me. Yet, it’s not the design of the structure that failed. The fault lies with the one who inhabited it and yet, did not care for it as was needed to maintain it’s glory.

However, I am reminded that life doesn’t have to end with this design.

It will take time to find the perfect place for the perfect love, but being more knowledgeable, persistent, dedicated, and willing, I can and will find it. Plans for a new structure, even more grand, can be conceived, modeled and built.

I’m not giving up. I will begin again.
