Friends with Benefits

Don’t go getting any ideas, fellas. LOL

I love the dictionary. Weird I know. But I do. I’m a writer after all and words have so much depth. There are daily moments when a particular word will cross my mind and I will wonder it’s origin or synonyms and google search the definition. Total nerd moments.

Recently I searched the word ‘advantage’- a favorable or desirable circumstance or feature; a benefit.

When I saw the word benefit as a synonym, it made me instantly think of the catchy little term ‘FWB- friends with benefits’.

There are advantages to having friends with benefits. And I for one, find myself in a place of huge advantage.

I know more than one human I would define as a friend with benefits. And for each I have a different wording that goes along with it. My Person. My Bra. My Bestie… Or as I like to call them all, my People.

Sometimes I need someone to offer a smile or a word of encouragement. Sometimes I need a good dose of laughter and another glass of wine. Sometimes I need someone to listen as I ramble on and on about the same thing AGAIN. Sometimes I need someone to give me a reality check and smack me upside the head. Sometimes I need someone to dance with me in the rain. Sometimes I need an ego boost and a good push forward. Sometimes I need a warm embrace and the realization I am not alone.

And my people faithfully meet my needs. And I hope with all that I am, that I in turn, meet theirs.

We all have benefits, something of advantage to offer another. Yet, I have learned that benefits are only of extreme value when we exercise them.

Looking through the worlds eyes, it may seem I have little advantage. But I have found I have more than most. And it is because I have the BFWB- BEST Friends with Benefits.
